When I was a newcomer to Cantabile, my head was full of what-ifs: What if I don’t make any friends? What if I can’t handle the music? These fears were allayed the moment I walked into my first Vocalise rehearsal. I was immediately welcomed by the other singers who made me feel like I was a part of the choir. I remember being intimidated by some of the more complex music we received, and being reassured by others that I would be fine. They were right.

Cantabile has allowed me to grow as a musician and as a person. From learning about music theory to the diverse cultural backgrounds of the songs we sing, I have developed a newfound appreciation for music from all over the world. I have also learned how to be a leader and support my section in singing their parts. I have made unforgettable memories, among them singing in cars to record for pandemic concerts and singing with a German choir in Berlin. Most of all, I have found friends I will cherish for a lifetime.
