Choirster & Family Expectations
Training Choirs
Our Training Choirs offer children the chance to experience a rich curriculum of Kodaly/Orff based teaching methods that include movement, singing and playing to learn music. Our singers in Prelude I, Prelude II and Allegro learn at each level and progress through a well designed set of classes and games geared to teaching them to match pitch, sing with others, move with rhythm and to love to sing! Our program is carefully crafted to maximize enjoyment and joy in learning to sing and to take students through our Intermediate level choir and prepare them to join the Performing Choirs. There are plenty of recitals and performance opportunities for Training Choirs and singers are expected to prepare and attend rehearsals regularly.
Performing Choirs
Cantabile offers the possibility of 13 plus years of high quality musical instruction, rich and varied performance opportunities in our own concerts and with professional orchestras and ensembles. We rely on our singers to develop a commitment to the group that they sing with and to keep their pledge to participate fully each season in their choir. Choral singing is a collaborative, team-oriented activity that depends on each person making and keeping a commitment to the group to be prepared at rehearsal, to act politely and professionally at concerts and while representing Cantabile on tour.
We understand that your singers participation is a family commitment - particularly in our upper choirs. We hope that you will take the time to read our FAQ and to call us with any questions that you have on 650-424-1410.
