Peeking into BCG's scrapbook

5 years ago - The Guild established a new fund for contributions in memory of its choristers and other friends. The fund was set up after the death of longtime BCGer Jerry Farrell, who was cared for by fellow choristers during his final battle with cancer. Also memorialized were Arnie Hultquist, Dorothee Mindlin, John Jaffe, William Parker, and Waltraud Weber.

10 years ago - The Guild Chorus (Robert Geary director) and pianist Jeana Ogren presented a special March concert at Saratoga's Congregation Beth David, performing works of Salmon Rossi, Shlomo Kaplan, Dov Carmel, Felix Mendelssohn and Leonard Bernstein.

15 years ago - BCG choristers signed up for a special Choir for Hire - two weeks of back-up singing in the Venetian Room (Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco) with Chuck Mangione. Mangione even joined a separate Choir-for-Hire group which sang a Sunday service at Old St. Mary's in Chinatown.

20 years ago - Founding Director Ken Hannaford directed BCG's March concert of music by Bach, Brahms, and Bruckner. Featured soloists were the staff of the Guild's Peninsula Choral workshop - soprano Caterina Micieli, alto Lou Robbins, tenor Gregory Wait, and bass Elwood Thornton.
