The next step
Organizational development consultant
Baroque Choral Guild recently received a $19,200 grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation to help us develop a long-term strategic plan for organizational development. With Packard's support, BCG has retained Cortlandt B. Fengler, whose long and comprehensive experience has helped strengthen a broad range of non-profit institutions that include schools, colleges, universities, medical centers, and orchestras.
Corty has worked locally with the San Francisco Symphony, Children Now of Oakland, The Women's Philharmonic, Camp Fire Boys and Girls Bay Area Council, Santa Rosa Symphony, Santa Cruz County Symphony, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, Oakland Youth Orchestra, Marin Education Fund, San Mateo County Health Center, and Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra. In addition, she has served arts and educational organizations in the Mid-west and the East.
For the Guild, Corty will be guiding the board of directors through a three-year transition to put the organization on a solid administrative and financial footing in anticipation of establishing an outside-the-home office. It is a major challenge for the Guild to move from being a successful
performing arts group that is fueled -- and limited -- by the zeal of its volunteer supporters to the next stage of its organizational development that relies on a more professional foundation. With the help from the Packard Foundation, Corty Fengler, and the Guild's own tradition of long-term planning, the board is confident that the next steps will be successful to make this transition.
