Busy days ahead

Cantabile’s seven choirs are polishing up their final concert programs for May 18 and June 1 (see details on page 4). There are also other performances to make Cantabile’s spring a busy one indeed. On April 6, Prep, Intermediate, and Levels 1 and 2 sang for the annual Family Art Day sponsored by the Euphrat Gallery on the De Anza College campus. On May 4, the Concert Choir and Level 3 participate in a workshop at the ACDA Children’s Choir Festival in San Mateo. On May 22, the Intermediate Choir will sing at Stanford Hospital as part of the Bing Concert series.

Music Director Signe Boyer has already made plans for next year. In August, Chamber Ensemble singers will enjoy their first summer retreat. Three full days of intense rehearsals will be held at the Pema Osel Ling Retreat Center in Santa Cruz. The Chamber Ensemble is anticipating a very exciting season, with a February world premiere of a major work by Craig Bohmler and its summer 2003 tour to Vienna, Budapest, and Prague.

Assistant Director Peggy Spool is planning Cantabile’s Summer Camp. Registrations are being accepted for the week-long music day camp for kids aged 6–10, to be held August 12–16 at Foothills Congregational Church in Los Altos.
