Special guest artists The Menlo Brass Quintet, and T. Paul Rosas, organ, join the Chorale as we kick off the holiday season with a glittering array of Christmas anthems. Selections include double chorus works from the German Renaissance, arrangements of classic French carols, and will spotlight recent compositions by local composers, Brian Holmes, T. Paul Rosas, and Sanford Dole. Daniel Pinkham’s rollicking Christmas Cantata rounds out this festive program. More...

March 14, 15, 16

Throughout history composers of church music have venerated the Blessed Virgin Mary, with the Magnificat perhaps the Biblical text most often set to music. Prayers to Mary, such as Ave Maria and Salve Regina, follow close behind. Our program surveys composers' different approaches to this subject, from medieval times to the present. Featuring Bay Area composer Frank Ferko's Marian Anthems, the program also includes works by Dufay, Victoria, Byrd, Buxtehude, Brahms, and Tavener.

June 6, 7, 8

The Chorale's June Program will focus on classics of the American choral repertoire, including Samuel Barber's Reincarnations, Aaron Copland's In the Beginning, and Randall Thompson's Alleluia. Sleep, a haunting composition by one of today's premier composers, Eric Whitacre, will accompany tributes to stars of earlier times: Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and George Gershwin. To conclude the show, we'll let our hair down with a set of rousing spirituals!
