1. When does Cantabile Rehearse?

Fall Semester: Late August/Early September through mid-December

Spring Semester: Mid-January through mid-May

Ensemble and Vocalise Choirs rehearse on MONDAY EVENINGS

Preparatory Choirs and Intermediate Choirs rehearse on WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AFTERNOON/EVENINGS.

2. Where does Cantabile rehearse?

3. Are there scholarships available?

Need-based scholarships are available for tuition through the Signe Boyer Scholarship Fund and the Alumni Scholarship Fund. Interested families must fill out a scholarship application. Scholarships are awarded semester-by-semester and singers must be in good standing as far as participation, attendance, and volunteer hours (for parents) to receive continued scholarship support.

4. What is the Foothill Arts Alliance and why do I have to fill out those Foothill College Application forms? My child isn't in college!

For those enrolled in our Ensemble/Vocalise Choirs, the Foothill Arts Alliance is a consortium of programs that provide arts education programs around the Bay Area. Like continuing education classes for adults, participants in Cantabile's program receive college credit through Foothill College, though they would not necessarily pursue a future degree there. Foothill College uses the Arts Alliance Programs to provide more arts education programs in the Bay Area and supports programs like Cantabile with significant funding. Filling out the forms allows us to receive that funding!

5. Why do I pay a Volunteer Deposit and how do I get it back?

We ask each family to support the music education of their children by volunteering time. Cantabile relies on this volunteerism to perform support functions that would otherwise require a larger administrative staff. Volunteer requirements are 10 hours per year or 5 hours per semester with a small additional requirement for parents with multiple students enrolled. Parents keep track of their time and are refunded their deposits at the end of each semester. These nominal deposits are forfeited if the required hours are not completed.
