Cantabile = Kahn / Tah / Bee / Lay

“Cantabile” means: “In a smooth, flowing, and melodious style”, and that’s exactly how our singers sound as they perform exciting music from many different cultures, time periods, and styles.

Cantabile Youth Singers, since 2004 under the artistic leadership of world-renowned conductor Elena Sharkova, offers children comprehensive choral music education and performance opportunities of the highest caliber, thereby engaging their hearts and minds, encouraging a lifetime appreciation of the arts, the diversity of human kind, cultures, and languages.

The singers, ages 4-18, enjoy weekly rehearsals, seasonal concerts, participation in music festivals, and tours abroad, are frequent guests with premier symphony, opera and ballet companies, and have graced the Carnegie Hall stage.

Cantabile Youth Singers organizes its members into four different choirs, based on level and age: Two age-appropriate Preparatory Choirs, one for ages 4-6 and the other for ages 6-8; a fun and high-energy Intermediate Choir for students ages 9-12 or roughly from 4th-6th grade; and the two senior choirs: Ensemble, Cantabile’s premier touring choir, for young people ages 12-15, wishing to further their musical experiences by learning a fantastic variety of advanced literature; and Vocalise, Cantabile’s most advanced group for youth aged 14-18, who will find this group to be challenging, rewarding, and exciting to participate in! Singers in Vocalise are also required to be part of Ensemble.

Auditions and Demonstration Classes take place in August, January and May.
